After months of working with the Parachute team, we wanted to hear first-hand from our first Home for Dreams participant, Taylor Long! We were eager to find out how she's worked with the team, the best advice she's received and what's next for her size inclusive swimwear brand, Nomads! Plus, Taylor and our new Scottsdale store have joined forces for the ultimate pop up experience this weekend! If you are in the Scottsdale area stop by our new store to celebrate the launch of Nomad's new swimwear collection on August 7 from 4 to 8 PM. Drinks, snacks and swimwear are calling you. Read on for more details and an update from Taylor directly on her experience in the Home for Dreams Initiative.

What are you most looking forward to for your first in-store pop up with Parachute? :I’m so looking forward to connecting in person with new customers and getting to tell the Nomads story! I also cannot wait to see the brand new Parachute Scottsdale and to see our product on display in such a beautiful store. Come by and dance with me and DJ Kim E Fresh!

Tell us more about the new collection and your cover ups. What was the inspiration?:From the pebbled beaches of Cape Schanck to the peak of Werribee Gorge – Melbourne, Australia served as endless inspiration for our second collection. With prints made from photos we took there and a color palette evocative of Australian stones and natural dyes – these suits and coverups are uniquely Melbourne.

What is the best piece of advice you have received during the mentorship program? :The best piece of advice I received was to become comfortable and familiarize myself with our numbers. My background is in design and accounting is not my strong suit, but I have since seen how pivotal it is to be able to do deep analysis on our finances and will attribute to the longevity of the brand.

How is it working directly with Parachute Founder, Ariel Kaye? :Ariel and I meet bi-weekly to catch up and share. Ariel has been integral in helping me navigate the fundraising landscape. Hearing more about her experience working with investors is invaluable. We also discuss hiring, on-boarding and building company culture – all of which are extremely important to me and Ariel.
