We believe that sustainability is the key to solving many of the challenges we face today, and we’re committed to creating premium quality home essentials that are good for people and the planet.

Introducing our Organic Cotton Collection. The collection builds upon our commitment to use more responsible materials and work with ethical manufacturers, and almost all of the products are Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified – the gold standard for cotton certification.

Our in-house team pulled inspiration from nature with new textures and colors like reed, willow, bisque, sand, flax, pebble and white. We asked our Chief Creative Officer, Amy Hoban, and our Director of Product Development, Meghan Knox, about the creation of this capsule and how they style the Organic Collection in their own homes.

Tell us about the design process, especially the touch and feel of the Organic Collection.

Amy: In the past, we’ve found that an organic product can sometimes mean sacrificing some level of softness. We know our customers depend on us for a cozy, soft fabric so we made that a priority for our Organic Collection. We are so excited to present our organic bedding, bath and loungewear that does not compromise softness!

Meghan: In our ongoing sustainability efforts, we felt that our products were a great place to start making meaningful changes. Amy came up with the concept of “back to nature” which is something that I think we can all appreciate. We were excited to be able to use a textile that feels soft to the touch and helps further our commitments to sustainability.

Can you tell us a bit more about GOTS certification and why you felt it was important to add these items to Parachute's product offering?

Amy: One of our sustainability pillars is responsible materials, and GOTS is a certification that ensures that the entire supply chain–from gin to finished product– meets stringent ecological and social criteria set by the organization. It’s the gold standard for organic cotton certification. We felt strongly that we should use fibers that meet these standards as much as possible in this collection.

Meghan: We already use Oeko-Tex certified materials in many of our products, and GOTS® ensures that additional standards are met throughout the production process – from harvesting to finishing. It was important for us to work with the GOTS® organization to help further ensure that we are offering our customers the highest quality products.

The color palette of this collection feels very natural and – for lack of a better word – organic, what led you to pick these particular colors?

Amy: This collection’s palette was inspired by the neighborhood walks I would take while working from home, and I would literally pull off branches and leaves to find just the right greens and muted neutral tones. Mother Nature supplied much of the inspiration for us.

Meghan: We wanted this collection to tie back to our existing products, but also stand apart in a unique way. In doing this we chose a color palette that is inspired by nature. Additionally, our sheeting is garment dyed which gives the fabric a really lived in and casual look.

How do you style the sheets, throws, and shams in your own home? Do you mix-and-match colors and patterns, or do you prefer a more monochromatic look?

Amy: I love a monochromatic color scheme that has multiple tones of a color, like white, cream, bone, natural, and fawn. I think mixing in more neutral green and bisque colors is a great way to update and refresh that look.

Meghan: I am a sucker for an all white bed, but the colors of this new collection are changing my mind. The natural duvet set and bisque sheeting look lovely together, as do the reed colors for a monochromatic look. The organic knit throws are so soft and they look great on the couch or as an added layer on the bed.

How does this collection complement Parachute’s sustainability commitments?

Meghan: Introducing GOTS-certified organic textiles is just one of the ways we're working toward these commitments. Our factories are constantly improving upon their sustainability initiatives throughout the weaving, cutting, sewing, and dying processes and we’re striving for a path of continuous improvement in our manufacturing process. We aim to add even more GOTS-certified textiles to our assortment in the future.

Can you share the differences between the Organic Cotton Sheets and the classic Brushed Cotton Sheets?

Amy: Brushed cotton is just that: brushed. So some of the fibers stand up in the process and you get that super soft hand feel. The new organic sheets are garment dyed and washed which softens the fabric as well, but they have an even smoother handfeel than the brushed cotton.

Meghan: Brushed cotton has a more saturated look and a softly brushed hand, whereas our organic sheeting has a more matte look with some color variation due to the garment dyeing process.

What is your favorite piece from the collection?

Amy: I love the new Air Cotton Quilt. It’s the perfect layer for warmer nights and the subtle tonal texture feels elevated.

Meghan: I think the bisque Organic Cotton Sheets are my favorite. They are a really versatile color, and when paired with warmer tones like clay and blush they can look more rosy. When paired with bone or fawn they can look like a really soft neutral.
