With spring officially upon us (cue applause!), it’s time to call up a few dear friends and invite them to dine among seasonal fare, delicious wine and good conversation. Spring and summer are, in fact, dinner party season! For styling expertise we turned to our friends at 100 Layer Cake – the internet's favorite place for events, weddings and creative pursuits alike. Here they share their tips on creating the perfect warm weather soirée, Parachute table linens included!

An outdoor table-scape is all about simplicity so let your linens do the work for you! We’re a fan of using a Linen Tablecloth – it elevates everyday meals just so and is perfect for building upon for bigger celebrations. To further establish the look of casual elegance, pair your table cloth with Chambray Fringe Napkins. These colorful linens are great for dressing up or dressing down, indoors or out. Feeling wild? Take advantage of the linen’s texture and layer them together for a mismatched look. For seating, we chose a low table adorned with pillows as seats. Is there anything more casual than dining al fresco or indoors, sans stiff dining chairs?

A place setting at a table.

When creating a menu, we suggest keeping the food in line with our color palette and theme – in this case a relaxed garden party. Whoa Nelly Catering (whose focus is on sustainable Southern California catering) provided a beautiful, seasonal and delicious spread of shared plates including white bean and chickpea hummus, charred crostini with smoked ricotta, market lettuces, grilled flatbread with figs and late spring vegetables. In keeping with the simplistic theme, the best dessert is always pre-made! Gingersnap sandwich cookies – filled with vanilla bean buttercream – were a memorable and no-fuss addition to our party.
